INDIANA SHEEP AND WOOL MARKET DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
ABOUT THE COUNCIL
Indiana SWDP is a check-off program that supports the research, market promotion and educational efforts related to sheep and wool in Indiana. By collecting one-half of one percent of the net market price (e.g. $0.005 x net price) of all sheep and/or lambs and wool sold in Indiana, we are able to offer funds to producers or producer groups to support projects relating to the promotion of sheep and wool in Indiana.
HOW DOES SWDP PROMOTE THE SHEEP INDUSTRY?
At the Indiana SWMDC we are dedicated to promoting the Indiana sheep industry in any way we can. Like other livestock checkoff programs, we look for promotional opportunities that fit our program and take advantage of them. This may entail anything from sponsoring a contest at the Indiana State Fair or building materials to connect with consumers, to sponsoring an event to widen our market or teaching the public how to cook lamb.
HOW CAN I HELP PROMOTE INDIANA SHEEP AND WOOL?
Formulating ideas and finding opportunities to promote the Industry is essential to our checkoff. If you have an opportunity in mind that you believe fits our goals, please fill out a funding application so we can review it and potentially grant funding to carry out your idea.
HOW CAN I BE ELECTED TO THE COUNCIL?
The council is made up of sheep and wool producers who are elected to represent the nine county-based districts in the state. If you are interested in sitting on the council, please contact us to find out more about the responsibilities of council members and how you can get elected.
We believe it is only through working together and sharing ideas that we can grow the Indiana Sheep Industry.
